NRA Supports Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports

Posted on: 1/8/2009 From: Jim Hamilton

Last fall many 4-H clubs applied to the Friends of NRA for grant funds. Colorado 4-H programs applied for a total of $75,000 in grants.

I have received word that they have been awarded over $72,000. Individual applicants will be notified shortly.

There was over $500,000 dollars in applications and only $284,000 to distribute. 4-H shooting sports programs accounted for 25% of the grants approved.

With this in mind I would encourage everyone who received funds to get to know who the local Friends of NRA committee members and thank them for their support. A news article in the local papers with photos of club members and Friends Committee members is great and goes a long way in showing our appreciation for the support.

In some locations, 4-H volunteers work closely with the committees to help with their fund rising banquets. This can be anything from putting up posters to helping out at the banquets themselves. Cooperation like this is a win-win for every one.

If you do not know who your local Friends committee members are contact me and I can help by providing you with the contacts.

Thanks!
Jim
