4-H Shooting Sports Project - Outdoor Skills

In the 4-H Shooting Sports project, Outdoor Skills discipline, members will accomplish the following learning experiences:

  • Care for and safety of shooting sports equipment.
  • Demonstrate safe use of the air rifle through practice, talks, demonstrations and exhibits
  • Demonstrate skills in shooting sports through local, district and state events.
  • Explore other project areas in relation to shooting sports, such as wildlife, woodworking, cooking, sewing and careers.

The items listed below are your project record requirements! Select each in turn to access the Word document. Once you have your document, please save it to your hard disk drive or other media before entering information.

Colorado State Fair and Local County Fair Exhibit Requirements:

General Exhibit Requirements:

Shooting Sports Inventory is required as well as the individual Discipline Score Sheet Record for exhibit. Example: If you are exhibiting Archery then you fill out the Archery Score Sheet Record only. If you are exhibiting Shotgun and Blackpowder then you would fill out a Shotgun Score Sheet Record and a Blackpowder Score Sheet Record.

  1. E-Record and Shooting Sports Inventory and Discipline Score Sheet Record for this project.
  2. Display should illustrate a chosen aspect of skill areas. This is separate from the statewide State Fair Shooting Sports Event listed under Special Events.
  3. Counties may enter only one exhibit per class. No live ammo, broadheads, knives or functional firearms are allowed to be displayed.
  4. Exhibits which address more than one discipline area or a skill or knowledge not readily categorized in a particular existing 4-H shooting discipline should be entered in miscellaneous.

Discipline Related Exhibit Requirements:
All project (Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors) exhibits will consist of the following:

  1. Completed e-Record presented in a sturdy binder/notebook.
  2. A Shooting Sports Inventory Record is required. It can be found at: http://www.4h.colostate.edu/project_resources/erecords
  3. A Shooting Sports Score Sheet is required. It can be found at: http://www.4h.colostate.edu/project_resources/erecords
  4. Display items are to be entered in specific skill areas that the exhibit relates to (i.e. .22, air rifle, shotgun, etc.)
    Individual exhibits can be display board or stand-alone items such as gun stocks, decoys, etc. Display items are to be entered in a specific discipline that the exhibit relates to (ie: .22, air rifle, shotgun, etc.). The standardized display board size is 4' x 3' with sides that do not overlap, is to be used for 4-H projects.
