4-H Electric Project
The electricity project is designed to help young people learn important general electrical concepts and develop life skills.
Step 3: Select Your Project
Unit 1 Magic of Electricity
This unit is designed for member ages 8-18 years with little or no prior electrical energy experience. Members may stay in this unit for three years. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Plugging in
- Bright lights
- Control the flow
- Circuit sense
- Electric attractions
- Make it spin
Unit 2 Investigating Electricity
This unit is designed for member ages 8-18 who understand basic electrical principals such as magnetism, electron flow and circuit design and principles. Members may stay in this unit for three years. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- Investigating Ohm’s law
- To flow or not to flow
- Decoding circuit diagrams
- Series and parallel circuits
- Switching circuits
Unit 3 Wired for Power
This unit is designed for member ages 8-18 who understand basic electrical principles such as magnetism, electron flow, and circuit design and principles. Members may stay in this unit for three years. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- The code of safe practices
- How much electricity are you using?
- Light up your life
- What’s in the box?
- Are your outlets grounded?
- You the electrician
Unit 4 Entering Electronics (Senior Advanced)
This unit is designed for member ages 14 and older who have an understanding of DC circuits, voltage, amperage, current flow, polarity, and some soldering is essential.
Members may stay in this unit for three years. Members will accomplish the following learning experiences:
- LED or SCR
- Operating with diodes
- Performance with LED
- Burglar proof
- Turn up the volume
Step 4:
