4-H Scholarship Information
The Colorado 4-H Foundation provides a number of scholarships for 4-H members to continue their post high school education. The following scholarships are available:

  • Barbizon School of Modeling Scholarships: (one full tuition, one half tuition) are available to currently enrolled 4-H members (males and females) who are at least 13 year of age as of December 31 of the previous year. Applicants must have interest and experience in programs and activities related to clothing or the areas of design, fashion, and styling. Again, one full and one half-tuition scholarships are given.
  • Colorado Agricultural Development Authority 4-H Youth Scholarship (CADA): ($1000) is open to 4-H members who will be incoming freshmen majoring in an agriculture-related field. Applicants must be currently enrolled in 4-H and demonstrate involvement in citizenship, leadership and community service. Applicants must submit proof of admission to a Colorado community college or four-year institution, have a 3.0 GPA and maintain a 2.0 average while enrolled.
  • Colorado State University Collegiate 4-H Scholarship: ($1000) is based on academics, community involvement, service and leadership in the 4-H program, with an emphasis placed on 4-H activities. Must attend Colorado State University.
  • County and District 4-H Scholarships: Several counties and districts also offer 4-H Scholarships. Please contact your local Extension Office for details, application forms and deadlines
  • Guide Dog Raising/Training: ($500 and $1000) This scholarship is open to high school seniors who have actively raised a Guide Dog puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind. The applicant may pursue any field of study at an accredited college, university or technical/trade school. Selection is based on volunteerism at Guide Dogs for the Blind, leadership, citizenship and community service activities, personal development through Guide Dog puppy raising, and how this has influenced an individual’s career selection and scholastic achievement.
  • Bill and Barbara Holthaus Family 4-H Scholarships ($1000) are open to 4-H members who are incoming freshmen who have completed a minimum of three years of 4-H work as of the current year. Selection criteria include leadership and citizenship involvement, 4-H achievements, scholarship potential and evidence of acceptance by a four-year college or university in Colorado.
  • Johnson and Wales University (Denver): ($5,000 per year for up to four years) is open to those interested in business, technology, hospitality and culinary arts careers. The scholarship is awarded to those who display dedication, spirit, a commitment to excellence in school and their 4-H, community service, and leadership activities.
  • Kimberling Family 4-H Scholarship: ($500) is open to 4-H members who have exhibited food-animal projects and are enrolling in a pre-vet program at Colorado State University. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Masonic-Range Science Scholarship: provides financial assistance and recognition to a high school senior, college freshman or college sophomore planning to major in range science or a closely related field.
  • Portouw Family Scholarship: ($300), open to 4-H members between 16-19 years of age who have completed the 4-H Photography project for three years and entered their photography at the Colorado State Fair a minimum of two years. The recipient will receive a scholarship upon submission of passing grades for the first quarter/semester at a college, university or trade school.
  • Audrey Sandstead Scholarship: ($400) 4-H members who are incoming freshmen or transfer students at Colorado State University. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in the college of Applied Human Sciences. Selection will be based on financial need, a minimum of 2.5 GPA, 4-H achievement, community leadership and citizenship.
  • Howard E. and Marjory M. Smith 4-H Scholarship: ($1000), 4-H members who are incoming freshmen at any college or university, have a good academic record and demonstrate real financial need and support.
